The Cox family has worked in the pavement industry for over 50 years. You could say it is almost coded in our DNA. At the tender age of sixteen, Clay Cox founded his own small business; sealing and repairing asphalt. He turned that business into Clayton Cox Enterprises; a full service asphalt paving company that served Wentzville and the St. Louis area until 1989.

That company evolved into Cox Pavement Consulting. Clay Cox saw a clear need for professional pavement design and project management that was based on years of expertise and field  experience. He was driven to create a company that would directly benefit owners and property managers. Rolling up his sleeves and working for himself taught Clay the value of a dollar and the sense of pride that can only come with a job well done. These are values he instilled in his son Collin Cox, as he taught him the tools of the trade from a very young age.

Collin took these lessons to heart, and began his own asphalt sealing and repair business at seventeen years old. You can say the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. He ran his own business throughout high school and college. By the age of 21 he was ready to join the family business and began working for Cox Pavement Consulting as a project manager.

For the past several decades the Cox family has built its reputation on hard work, impeccable service, and a drive to perpetually improve. In 2002 the company opened its second location in Colorado to better serve clients across the nation. As Clay and Collin criss cross the country, they have helped clients on projects from Virginia to Washington and Florida to Montana, working on parking lot and roadway systems for banks, trucking facilities, shopping centers, community roadways and everything in between.

Of course all work and no play is never a good idea. Clay Cox spends his free time on his ranch in Colorado. There he raises and trains White German Shepherds; that is, when he is not competing in team roping, a popular rodeo event, and teaching his granddaughter how to ride horses.

Collin, for his part, enjoys hiking and biking (both mountain and road). He also helps take care of his family’s five rescue dogs and the occasional foster pup, which is a labor of love for him.

Cox Pavement Consulting is proud to support the non-profit organization Gateway Pet Guardians.

Cox Pavement Consulting is truly a family affair, one that has been built over time through hard work and lots of experience. Let the Cox family put their knowledge to work for you on your next pavement project.
